What magazines do you subscribe to, and why?

Sunset: because it covers travel around this area, and food, and gardening (which I've figured out I don't really like), and a bit of home improvement too, so basically everything I dream of doing all in one magazine that doesn't think you have a bottomless bank account.

The New Yorker: because it has a good mix of cultural items, interesting random topics, news, movie reviews that make sense, humor, and of course those cartoons.  And I love the food issue.  It's a bummer though that because we're off here in the corner of the West we get it our copy much later in the week than everyone else.

Wired: because it was cheap

American Scientist: because I'm a member of Sigma Xi, but my husband reads it more than I do.  Petroski's column is usually good.

Audrey: because there's not much out there for Asian American women so this is basically a donation to keep this magazine going; I don't get much out of the fashion and beauty product articles but it's not all fluff, they have harder hitting features also.

Hyphen: again with the Asian American support... but I think I actually let this subscription lapse because I forgot about it ... it doesn't arrive very often.

National Geographic:because when we bought our latest house and had a kid I thought, well, I guess it's time to start storing our old issues of National Geographic on a dusty shelf in the garage, better get a subscription.
